Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota + Other N.D.
North Dakota. Isn't she gorgeous? Well, it's almost eastern
Montana here, but still, North Dakota as far as eye can see: the
Badlands!!!
Looking Southwest across the West-East flowing Little Missouri River,
midmorning. The time zone boundary follows the river. The south,
opposing shore is Mountain Time country. Is this is where the Real West
starts for my trip? All around us -- ambient bison. This is How
Things Always Looked Here, well, at least since the Ice Age. Neat,
eh? America the Beautiful.
On the road again. Roosevelt National Park, North Unit, North Dakota.
The same herd surprised me head-on later in the day, cutting me off
from my car at the campground. Made for a fascinating and unnerving
on-the-hoof experience...
