On the San Juan Islands, WA
A big ol' spider weaving big ol' spider webs in the mesmerizing light
of daytime old growth forest, on Orcas Island, San Juan Islands,
Washington state. The rich saturated greens are something to see --
no ordinary forest has that lush, erotic, enfolding deepness. It's
as if entering a church and yet not at all like that. :)
The view from Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island, from the "authentic"
Scottish Lookout Tower, looking towards Vancouver and Bellingham, over
the San Juan Islands.
We are at the highest point of the archipelago (360 degree view! into
Canada and the Cascade Range in the USA), all of it a Marine
Biological Reserve and a county onto itself lodged something lovely
between Bellingham/Seattle, Washington State and Victoria, Vancouver
Island, Canada. Nice place -- take a ferry, rent a sea kayak, see an
orca, a fogbank punctuated by mountains, a "pod" of fishing boats.
