		the squirrel
		-------------------------------------------------------

		jumped from tree to tree
		and in a foreign tongue
		rustled a name
		I summoned her distrustful presence
		her sharp teeth
		grabbed
		my heart's golden edge
		and in a half-turn -- bent
		waving her red tail
		she whispered -- goodbye
		to the swaying branch of lilac
