		On the Margin of Christianity
		-------------------------------------------------------

		Judas is a dark deity
		his pain lives
		in the earth
		a conscience
		which orders the leaves to hang themselves by the stem
		from wobbly branches
		and fall with the rain

		the farmer of betrayals
		like the farmer of snakes
		does not remember
		that having grown
		they will sink
		their teeth
		in his throat

		easier to forgive the moment
		when a crowd with a glance
		invokes contempt
		easy to absolve the sins of a crowd

		but one's own hands
		tying the knot of a kerchief
		clumsy fingers
		hooking the knotted kerchief
		on a branch

		look
		there goes Judas swaying
		in the earth
