		-------------------------------------------------------

		do not speak
		the words fly stubbornly in circles
		around your head
		O honeyed behive
		do not speak
		how else would I dare to plunge
		my hands
		my elbows
		into your thick and sweet stuff

		springtime
		when the unimportant trees
		fogbound as well
		my fingers at dawn
		ask the chill
		my hungry fingers
		a crowd of sparrows
		looking for warmth
		in the crooks of paper
		in whiteness

		please let me bite down on
		your downy body
		so that I can believe that you are
		because when I open my hand
		and I know that I will open
		you will leave
		and so I feed my cruelty
		with downy meat
		I say -- a world
		and I mark the boundaries
		for my feet and hair
		a world dimensioned
		ever more like the earth

		between word and love you are
		in space
